I feel like the final scene was just so disappointing by following in the footsteps of many other t.v shows that end with the begginning of a younger generation following the same storyline. I feel as if the last 7 years was a lead up to a disappointment really, instead could they not have answered more of the unanswered questions? like there aren't anymore episodes left and not everything has been answered to i'd say majority of the fandoms expectations.
Also I really love mona as a character but seeing her back in the black hoodie every time was almost becoming a predicament, I wish they would've drove her character into finally being apart of the liars. Anyone else feel the same?
Exactly, let's not forget that if it wasn't for Ali and the rest of the Liars, Mona would not have become A.
I've always wished Mona could have been part of the group! As much as she screwed them over, her love for the liars was unconditional, and in the end their safety was really in her best interest. She double crossed A.D. most recently, and along with a bunch of other things. Mona's persona in 6B 7A was my personal favorite, she was cunning and intelligent,. It broke my heart to see that The Liars didn't accept her during that time period. She was shunned when she showed up to Hanna's party with the gift. She was verbally attacked by Spencer after leaking the report to save Veronica. She even killed Charlotte to keep them safe! Yes, Mona was partially motived to kill Charlotte due to the fact she was jealous of Charlotte for stealing the game from her. But ultimately she killed Charlotte to protect them, so that she wouldn't harm them or her again. I really wished her ending persona would be similar to the way she acted in 6B/7A, and that she would finally be accepted by the rest of The Liars, perhaps even had an inclusion in the goodbye scene. I felt that although the dollhouse scene was evil and cute, that she really took an unnecessary turn towards insanity in the last few episodes. I mean, she even agreed to help Hanna conceal Noel and help with her Vigilante type plan. (Although it always confused me how Noel escaped Mona's custody)
Well he was A LOT bigger than her lol he could've riggled out of the ropes I suppose and she really wouldn't be in a position to stop him
That's true, but it struck me odd that there was no mention to Hanna HOW he escaped. Like if he overpowered her, or she left him unattended. But the entire time from 7A to 7B I always kinda thought she cut him loose like she was in on it or something. Maybe Mona was being blackmailed by A.D. ever since that episode and not just recently like towards the end. Would make sense that Alex recruited Noel, he was helping Charlotte in dollhouse. That would also explain Mona's persona shift in 7B
Okay it's pointless to argue over the finale, because everyone will have a different opinion. But here are some facts:
1. Troian was amazing, she's probably the best actor on the show. Regarding Alex, I think we'll all agree that she did an amazing job switching between 2 characters in a second. When it comes to the accent, she had a coach and practiced for a long time, but hey, not everyone can tackle a British accent. (Again it was an idea of the writers and not hers, so she did the best she could)
2. The finale DID NOT answer a lot of questions as promised. Everyone said that the finale will answer almost all of our questions, if anything it left us with more questions. It was NOT the point to answer some of the questions and answer (almost) all the rest in interviews after the show ended. We still don't know everything about that night, what was the deal with Bethany, what was the deal with the red herrings, regarding Lucas/Jenna/and whoever was shady at some point, why was Melissa almost always at the worng place at the wrong time if you can say so.. Instead we were left with more questions, like why would Wren be the father of the twins and then Alex killed him, because she couldn't stand him anymore, why Mary didn't tell Spencer earlier about Alex so we'd avoid this, etc.?!
3. All the ships are endgame as promised. And this was let's be honest, because of the fans, but it was not important all the drama with Ezria in the finale or the shady scenes with Ali an Emily's mom just for a lousy engagement. It was unnecessary. Instead of more Alex time and filling out plot holes we got ships-drama we didn't need. I mean, we already had enough romance and polishing their stories so they could get where they ended up.
4. The writers worked their butts off to put together this finale, and of course you can't please everyone. HOWEVER, two hour finale is REALLY not enough time to fix everything. So maybe, if we got the answers sooner, and the season was better planned, just maybe a lot more plot holes would have been covered. They probably should have put Alex way earlier in the season with her story, or explain that she knew about everything, and was present from day 1. BUT, you can't fix something when you already changed your mind about who A is a million times.
5. The ,,full circle" thing. Why in the name of God would you put the same scene that launched this amazing TV show as the very last scene of it with new kids actors, that probably won't even get a spin off show? That scene screamed UNNECESSARY. It just lost the point of the ending, the worst thing you can do is finish a play or a show with three endings. The Mona scene would have been the show ending with a bang, however it's ridiculous that she flew to Paris with two hostages, but this is PLL in the end, right? Or the girls' last scene would have been the perfect ending also, and if they wanted to keep the,,curse" of Rosewood going, it could've ended with a camera beeping or something.
I think Troian did a great job with what she was given. I'm sure a lot of people are having a hard time separating one thing from the other. My problem with Troian's accent is that there were a few times she slips into the accent when she's Spencer. and out of it when she's Alex. Those things should have been reshot. It was probably shot pretty quickly and that's easy to happen. It shouldn't be a reflection on her. These shows are shot so fast - not like movies.
I thought she cut him loose at first too but then I thought no way she would do that to Hanna. But maybe you're right, and she did it for A.D. Very weird why it wasn't brought up.
