Season 2[]
Tabby asks Wes if he's looking to stock up for the summer rush. He's already hired someone new. Christian emerges from the back in a style that reminds Tabby of Chip. He just moved to Millwood from New York, which Tabby is sorry to hear. He has experience as a projectionist, so Wes asks Tabby to show him the ropes.
Tabby tells Christian about the shared responsibilities and protocols at The Orpheum. He asks for her number in case he needs to switch shifts since she'll be his direct supervisor. Tabby hesitates but agrees to give her number. Christian heard that she made a horror movie and he's into them as well. He likes prosthetics and masks - the bloodier the better. She lies that horror isn't her thing.
Tabby scrolls through Christian's Instagram when Imogen enters with news of seeing her dad. She also got a job waitressing at a diner near her dad's. She doesn't mind the bus ride since it clears her head. Tabby tried to get Imogen a job at The Orpheum, but Wes hired Christian instead. Imogen takes Tabby's phone to check him out. She calls him cute, lying down to scroll through the pictures. Tabby isn't sure she's ready to approach things romantically but admits Christian is crazy talented. Imogen tries to zoom in on a picture and accidentally likes it. They freak out as Tabby wonders what to do as that post is from three months ago. Imogen suggests she follow Christian which will be less weird than just randomly liking a photo. She tells Tabby to like a few others so she can play it out as admiring his work. Imogen teases Tabby that Christian is cute.
The next day, Wes and Christian banter behind the counter over horror movies while Tabby sweeps the floor. She listens to their argument until she can't handle their inaccuracies any longer and has to jump in. Christian teases her about horror not being her thing. Wes blurts out that she is and compares her to a real-life final girl. He's heard her compare herself to that many times. He asks Christian if he's seen her short film yet, and he hasn't but would love to see it. He is all smiles over the idea of watching it. Wes suggests they watch it now, but Tabby interrupts to ask for the rest of her shift off to surprise Imogen.
Tabby tells Christian to organize the old film canisters by genre and year per Wes's orders. They geek out over the millimeter of the camera. Tabby offers to show Christian her short film which thrills him. He suggests projecting the film to the screen by hosting a glitzy premiere for her family and friends. She insists they've all seen him, but he insists they should try it on the silver screen. She agrees and decides to invite her friends. He promises to handle everything else.
The Little Liars watch Avenge, starring Imogen, who takes a knife to "Chet" the rapist in the film before bludgeoning him with a knife. She then walks the halls of the school, covered in blood, with a crimson A carved in Chet's chest. The film ends and the girls all clap for Tabby. Christian meets them in the lobby to applaud Tabby for her film. They all make plans to meet up at Pinball Pizza for an after-party. Tabby and Christian have to close up, but she invites the girls to hang out. Imogen quickly says they all do the "stuff" they talked about. Imogen is going to the creamery to see if there's still a job opening, while Faran has to practice CPR on a dummy. Mouse volunteers Christian to walk Tabby home, with Noa adding how nice it is outside. He's down if Tabby is and she agrees. The girls slowly walk out of the Orpheum while giggling. Tabby goes for the checklist when she finds a rose atop it. She grins, believing it's from Christian.
Christian asks Tabby about what lens she used. They both love to talk about their process, with him giving her a tip for fake blood. They talk about movies and laugh together. She thanks him for tonight. He finds her and her friends cool. She gets an unknown caller that she blames on a robocall. They continue to talk about bad movies.[4]
Sidney Haworthe comes home and questions who Christian is, before Tabby intervenes and introduces him as her coworker with whom she’ll hung out with.
At The Orpheum, Christian asks Tabby about her favorite vampire movie, to which she answers it’s between Coppola’s Dracula and Buffy, possibly Queen of the Damned. He asks if she’s serious. Tabby retorts and asks the same question: Christian excitedly says "Blacula". Tabby doesn’t recognize the title - he subsequently invites her to his house and watch and it. He wonders if it’s cool with her mom, but Tabby assures him she’ll be ok with it. He also mentions his special effects studio, in his basement.
At Christian’s house, Tabby asks him why his parents moved to Millwood. He explains they’re visual artists - painter and photographer - and wanted more room for less money. He invites her down to his studio in the basement. Tabby nervously walks downs the eery steps into his studio - she’s immediately impressed by the masks he made. He excitedly shows her his sources and inspiration for making his masks - she’s left wishing she had a space like this for herself. He invites her to use his studio whenever she wants. Christian leaves to get their food and leaves Tabby alone. She’s drawn to a half-open locker. She tries to convince herself not to snoop but gives in to her curiosity - to her horror she finds not only a mask of Archie Waters, but one of Bloody Rose. Christian runs downstairs and tries to explain but Tabby warns him away and runs off.
At the Orpheum, Tabby and Christian stumble simultaneously in introducing their own apologies. Christian says he feels terrible about what happened last night, and for what is worth made the masks before he met Tabby. Tabby understands and says she shouldn’t have gone snooping, though the boy admits he was giving off ‘Barbarion’ vibes. She’s left impressed at the film comparison. But she does question him on why he made those particular masks - he answers that he’s been on SpookySpaghetti. She further doubles down on whether he was the one who posted her private number - Christian denies it and quizzes her if he’s the type of guy she thinks would do that. Tabby relies no in a fluster. She confesses her short film “Avenge” was autobiographical, which the boy assumes it was given it felt truthful and personal. She states the one responsible was named Chip, her bets friend who loved horror movies and whom they’d watch it in his basement. Christian is sorrowful - Tabby, in an effort to liven up the mood, invites him to Mouse’s birthday party.
Christian is the last to arrive, having overcome his hesitation of turning down Tabby’s request due to him not knowing how to skate. Tabby and Christian work on the latter’s skating skills, with Tabby offering to hold his hand or balance.[5]
Tabby is working at The Orpheum when she gets a call from an unknown number. She answers rudely and the woman is the Chairwoman from PIFT. One of their filmmakers withdrew and, while Tabby's film wasn't selected, it did make an impression. They want something more recent from Tabby to consider. She tells Christian who is excited for her. Her new short doesn't exist yet, but she has two days to send something in. Christian is excited about the challenge and offers to help. He asks if she has any ideas for a new short.
Christian and Tabby walk through the Orpheum as Tabby pitches her new short idea to him. He calls her idea a genius and asks when she came up with the idea. She claims she came up with it last night in a total “light bulb moment”. He assumes she's playing the lead of the manager, but she's not sure as she's more of a behind-the-camera person. Christian thinks she could be in front of the camera too. She's movie star beautiful and he thinks it's cool when the final girl is black, which she agrees with.
Christian and Tabby prepare for filming when the Little Liars and Ash get there to help. They instantly start prepping and getting ready. They begin filming “The Projectionist” with Faran and Noa starring as employee workers, and Tabby as the manager who punches the bad guy, Christian. They shoot the penultimate scene in the red room. Ash plays the greedy manager who gets killed while Imogen and Mouse are fearful patrons. Tabby is happy with the final product.
Tabby edits her film when she watches footage of her and Christian laughing together. She flashes back to her and Chip spitballing ideas for short films. She proposes Jaws in a movie theater, specifically the Orpheum. He calls it genius and writes it down. In the present, Tabby is in tears as she looks at the footage.
Christian loves Tabby's film so far and has some ideas for POV shots. He worries he oversteps because of her reaction. She admits this idea was something she spitballed with Chip. It was her idea, completely, but she and Chip used to spend hours dreaming crazy loglines of horror movies they would make together. As fun as the short was to shoot it was also triggering as a reminder of something that's still part of her life. He tells her that she doesn't owe that guy anything and not to let him take this away from her. No matter what happens with PIFT, she made a new movie that kicks serious ass. She suddenly kisses him and then asks if that's okay. He smiles that it was for him, asking if it was okay for him. She nods and they kiss again.[6]
Christian and Tabby talk about their favorite Friday the 13th's in preparation for their screening. They talk about attending camp. Tabby went to Camp Millwood as a kid but it was shut down years ago. Wes emerges to ask why a prosthetic hand was in the popcorn machine. Tabby tells him not to be mad, admitting she shot a new short film for PIFT at The Orpheum. Wes is shocked that she got a call from PIFT. He calls it exciting and she asks him to put in a good word for her with the selection committee. He agrees and she thanks him profusely. He wishes she would have told him about shooting the film, as there's liability issues to worry about it. Christian gives him the side eye as Wes leaves. He points out that Wes was pissed. Tabby brushes it off as he is stressed for the Friday the 13th marathon tomorrow. It's their most lucrative night and something always goes wrong. Christian doesn't trust Wes at all, calling him darkness.
Tabby and Christian talk more about the Friday the 13th films. Wes tells Tabby that he thinks he knows why PIFT called her about another short. Christian thinks it's because she's talented, which Wes off-handedly agrees with. He thinks it's because PIFT has been dragged over their lack of diversity. She asks if he's really telling her the only reason she got picked was because she's black. He scoffs as he nervously says that's not the only reason. She's proud to be a black woman with a perspective that people like Wes will never have. She got the call because she's good, her voice is unique, and she is needed. If he's so good, she wonders why he's the one barreling toward 30 while working in the same movie theater as a teenager. He claims things are harder for a straight white guy right now. She suggests he do what women and artists of color have been doing this whole time to break-in - be undeniable. She suggests they post their latest shorts without credits and let the masses decide which is better in a movie-off. He tells her to fuck that and to forget about him putting a word in for her. She doesn't need it and is sure he would have undermined her anyway. He's done being talked too like that as her boss, and decides not to help with the Friday the 13th marathon.
Tabby goes into work where Christian is putting fans everywhere because the AC broke and Wes didn't come into work. Tabby has an idea to host the marathon at Camp Millwood instead of the Orpheum. He'll get the word out on social media and help redirect ticket buyers. He surmises they make a pretty good team. She mentions iconic friendships in films, but he goes for a Love and Basketball reference instead. She admires his more romantic choice.
Tabby and Christian host the Friday the 13th screener at what they have nicknamed Camp Blood.[7]
Tabby goes to The Orpheum where she talks to Christian. Wes is still MIA and isn't at work again. Tabby knows this is weird and texts him. The AC guy is there and opens the vent, telling them he found the problem. Tabby and Christian walk over, and Tabby sees Wes's dead body in the vent. She rears back then notices the guys aren't concerned. She looks again to see a dead rat.
Tabby looks at Christian's masks. He offers to put them away if she wants. She tells him not to bother. She saw the true face of evil tonight in hell house. She used to be so scared of monster masks, or one in particular. She tells him how Chip's mom was there tonight and called them liars beyond salvation. Mrs. Langsberry doesn't believe them about what Chip did. Christian puts her drink down and offers his arm to Tabby, who lays on his chest. He suggests they watch a comedy tonight. She counters with a horror comedy. He agrees and offers Shaun of the Dead. He rests his head on hers.
Over at the Orpheum, Christian rambles to Tabby while she's on her phone. She's not paying attention because she's worried about Wes. She's texted him dozens of times and thinks she should check on him. He agrees but insists on going with her.
They go to Wes's house where his door is open. She knows he wouldn't leave his door open. He sees masks on the desk which are copies of Christian's work. He's in shock over Wes being a poser. She calls the masks knock-offs like ones on Spookyspaghetti. She opens his laptop which has the website pulled up. He asks if she ever found out who posted her personal info. She didn't and then shakes her head. She's tired of dealing with other people's psycho bullshit. She wants to forget about Wes and celebrate Pride with her friends.
Imogen sees Christian and Johnny goofing off together. She asks if they're actually inching closer to a double date in their future. They laugh over the possibility soon.
Christian has a set of scary masks. If Redemption House wants to demonize them, they should turn into demons and scare the crap out of them. Everyone is in with the new plan.
Christian and Tabby talk over his masks as she thanks him for lending it to her. They're going to raid Redemption House as literal demons from hell. They will run out of Imogen's house while the guys get it on camera so they can out them as jokers. Christian loves the plan. He's ready to tear down the bullshit house of horrors.[8]
The girls give Tabby an odd look, so she agrees to talk with Christian about insights on mask masking. Tabby plans to talk with Christian about the masks, Faran decides to talk with Kelly, while Mouse monitors Spookyspaghetti. Noa has to deal with the Shawn stuff first. Tabby dismisses the class.
Over at the Orpheum, Tabby asks Christian if he makes lifelike masks. He doesn't as creature masks are more his thing. People's faces aren't a challenge for him as anyone with a 3D printer can make one. She lies that it's about her next movie, and Wes comes out to tell them he quit the movie theater. Millwood is a dead end for him so he's leaving. One of his former roommates at NYU is working for A24, so he's crashing there to finally make his movie. He spoke to Mrs. Orpheum and recommended them both for co-manager positions, which means they can do special programming. Christian is excited about the horror noir film festival he wanted to host. Wes apologizes to Tabby for being such a dick to her and Christian. He tells them to take care and leaves while Tabby watches.
Christian rambles to Tabby about ideas for his horror noir film festival. She has a traumatic hallucination of Bloody Rose entering the Orpheum. He notices her distraction and she explains she's dealing with a lot right now. They're interrupted by Billy Crane, a film location scout whose director wants to shoot a horror film at the Orpheum. He can't tell them what it's about, but she thinks it's the Millwood Massacre.
Tabby and Christian sit on his couch while scrolling through their devices. She finds an article about the Millwood Massacre becoming a feature film with Ali Aster directing. Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts are set to star. Christian is mad they whitewashed the friend group. Tabby can't believe this as everyone keeps trying to steal their story. She's mad about being erased, calling the project insane.
Tabby gets the text from Imogen and chuckles happily, telling Christian about the plan. She looks at him for a while and the moment is awkward. She nervously asks if she can stay over too, and he would be happy for her too, if she's comfortable with it. He offers the bed to her while he sleeps on the couch. She texts Imogen back and then her mom to say they're sleeping at Faran's. She decides to tell him about Bloody Rose first.
Tabby has a dream that the Orpheum is taken over by the Millwood Massacre filmmakers. Christian tells her they're about to roll on the film and the director, who looks up from behind a crew member, is Wes. He asks if she wants to be his final girl. Bloody Rose stabs her from the side. She lurches away and checks on Christian, who is sleeping soundly next to the bed.
After class, the girls demand details from Imogen and Tabby. Imogen giggles while saying nothing happened, as they just slept. She felt totally protected which the girls find this sweet. Tabby told Christian about Bloody Rose and they fell asleep together. She slept on the bed while he was on the couch next to her. They held hands until she fell asleep, which she loved.
Tabby and Christian visit Wes's apartment to find it empty. They can't believe he left. She thanks Christian for checking the apartment with her to make sure he left. He's sorry she had the nightmare last night. It also helped her decide to make her own unapologetically black Millwood Massacre film. This is her and her friend's trauma. She needs to tell the story for them. He's supportive of her but brings up how Bloody Rose is coming for her. He wants to leave Millwood with her tonight. She can't leave her girls behind. Even if she were to leave, Bloody Rose might follow her. He understands and has her back. She asks him to help her make the movie this summer. She has a start date of August 1st because she's going to be there, alive and well, to make a hot horror hit.[9]
Back at the Haworthe house, Tabby calls the AMC theater in New York City pretending to look for a reference for Christian Peele. He doesn't recognize the name. He says it's possible Christian worked there, though he doesn't specifically remember Christian.
Tabby turns on the basement light in Christian's house. She snoops through his belongings but doesn't find the A or Bloody Rose mask. She opens a drawer and finds the realistic mask of Davie Adams. She curses over it always being the boyfriend's. She jogs up the stairs while looking at the mask. Bloody Rose appears with a blade, scaring Tabby and she tumbles down the stairs. She's unconscious by the time she lands. Her phone chimes with an SOS from Imogen.
Christian doesn't know anything and wants to know what's happening. Mouse asks where The Orpheum's internet servers are.
Christian and the girl's yank open the door to the internet servers, which are full from the Spookyspaghetti servers. Taped to the front is a message: HOT IN HERE OR IS IT JUST ME? CHECK OUT MY MOVIE IN SCREENING ROOM THREE. Faran snips over looking for Dr. Seuss while Mouse deduces Bloody Rose must have known they would track down the source of SpookySpaghetti. She was counting on them finding it. They head to screening room three.
Christian and the girls rush into the theater, where Tabby's ordeal is projected onto the screen through a livestream on Spookyspaghetti. Imogen panics over her friend being in danger, demanding to know if this is a movie or already happened. Mouse points to the fast-growing numbers in the corner which are the number of people watching. Christian calls Wes a piece of shit while Noa asks where Tabby is. Faran has been there before - it's Kelly's crazy ass church. They rush out of the room to get Tabby.
The girls and Christian run out of the Orpheum but are confronted by people in masks. One removes his mask and is the same kid who came into Mouse's shop with a computer. He demands blood for Bloody Rose and blood for her children. They attack but Christian and the girls close the doors just in time. While locking the doors, Mouse gives exposition to explain the Reckoning starting through proxies that are doing Bloody Rose's bidding. The proxies shatter the glass to unlock the doors. Christian ushers them to the screening room where they can lock themselves in.
Christian and the girls escape into the screening room as the proxies bang on the door. They aren't sure if the proxies are trying to kill them or stop them from getting to Tabby. Imogen wants to get to Tabby, so Christian tells them to use the exit door down front that leads to the alley. He'll hold the line while they get Tabby. They burst into the alley and fled on foot.
She asks how they are otherwise, asking about Christian. Tabby smiles that he's doing well. Wes's proxies couldn't break into the screening room on Reckoning night while Christian was calling the police, so he's safe. The Orpheum is fixed up and open for business again.
Tabby and Imogen lay in bed together while Imogen muses over passing the exam. Tabby isn't because they can handle anything life throws at them. They smile at each other and giggle. Imogen rolls over to ask Tabby if she's going to make the rouge Millwood Massacre movie with Christian. She sits up, admitting she's not sure. She thinks she's done with Archie and Bloody Rose, the whole Waters family. For her next movie, it's not about rehashing the past, but something completely new. Imogen is excited for a new story with a new slasher villain. Tabby smiles over it being villains. She's thinking bigger, badder, and bolder.[10]
