Trivia[]
- She has the same middle name as her character Karen Beasley.
- In an Max interview of Pretty Little Liars: ORIGINAL SIN to the main cast, Mallory Benchtel said that she was a big fan of Pretty Little Liars, it all started when she bought the first book when she was in fourth grade, and the TV show, was the first show she had been obsessed with. [1]
- She thinks Karen's character is a mix between Mona Vanderwaal, Jenna Marshall, and Alison DiLaurentis. She also thinks Karen was, in part, inspired by iconic horror movie mean girl Chris Hargensen (Carrie) portrayed by Nancy Allen.
- In an interview with Teen Vogue, Bechtel said, “I think Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring had this in mind writing her as Chris from Carrie. I even have a scene with my boyfriend in the show, Greg, who’s played by Elias Kacavas, where I call him a stupid sh*t multiple times and that’s like a direct reference to Chris, John Travolta’s character Billy, and Carrie. That’s what’s fun about our show is there’s a lot of horror Easter eggs. But I think definitely with my character, Chris is the big parallel.”
- There are two methods she used to differentiate the twins; Karen always wears heels as opposed to Kelly who wear flats, and Karen listens with her mouth open while Kelly keeps hers shut while listening.
- During dinner, when their father is on a tirade, Karen is listening with her mouth closed, and Kelly is listening with her mouth open.
- After Karen's death, her corpse is shown wearing flats.
- After Karen's funeral, Kelly is shown wearing heels, and listens to her father's drunken tirade with her mouth open.
