Millwood is a small town and the main setting of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Millwood is located in Pennsylvania, a few miles away from Rosewood.
Given the dilapidated status and conditions of its infrastructure and surroundings, as well as the number of residents being blue-collar workers, Millwood is more economically disadvantaged than the wealthy Rosewood or state-of-the-art renowned Beacon Heights.
History[]
Channeling the history of actual steel-mill towns of Pennsylvania, the beginnings of Millwood's fictional history likely began as an offset of the exponential boom of the American Industrial Revolution. Such steel mill companies usually drove the power of their towns, hence its abundance of warehouses and industrial architecture and facades. The steel factory industry practically collapsed in the 1980s, sending their towns in economic and population decline.
On December 31st, 1999, the teens of Millwood organized a Y2K rave in an abandoned warehouse. What began as the ultimate rave to be remembered turned infamous after Angela Waters jumped to her death in front of all the attendees.
Twenty-two years later, several residents, including teenagers, were victims of Archie Waters, known as "A" who killed nine people. This event became known nationally as the "Millwood Massacre". The main target and survivors of the massacre were a group of five Millwood High students for the sins committed by their mothers to Archie's sister, Angela Waters.
During the summer of 2023, a local woman Susan Langsberry, also known as "Bloody Rose" began her own massacre with the help of film buff Wes. Susan had a grudge against the survivors of the Millwood massacre, because in her mind, they were responsible for the death of her son Chip.
