The Millwood Massacre was a series of killings carried out by Archie Waters that took place in Millwood, Pennsylvania, from September-December of 2022. The events were triggered by the premature death of Angela Waters in 1999, in which her five best friends bullied her to the point of suicide.
Twenty years later, driven by a desire to avenge Angela, her brother Archie and their father Marshall Clanton terrorized Angela's sinful friends and their daughters. When the leader of the "sinners" committed suicide, the mother's sin and torment fell to their daughters.
History[]
Davie's Death[]

Death of Davie Adams, suicide or murder?
The reign of terror began in August of 2022, when Archie, using the alias "A", left Davie Adams a message through a flier for the Y2K event in which Angela committed suicide. The note triggered Davie's guilt over what happened to Angela and she subsequently killed herself in the bathtub of her house after writing a crimson "A" on the wall in her own blood. Her daughter Imogen discovered her body and became determined to find out what spurred her mothers actions.[1]
First Murder[]
A month later on September 28th, the other daughters of Angela's friends received ominous messages signed by "A". Imogen's instructed her to look out her classroom window, where she saw a figure wearing a burlap mask and coveralls.
The first victim of the Millwood Massacre took place a day later on September 29th in Millwood High School when the school janitor, Jason, discovered A's lair in an abandoned section of the school. "A" subsequently slit Jason's throat. The murder of Jason is the only crime in which "A" was not accredited.
Karen's Murder[]
Different girls, same destiny: Angela Waters and Karen Beasley.
On September 30th, "A" continued to frame his young targets for egregious acts against Karen Beasley to force them into the same detention. The girls falsely believed they were framed by Karen and crafted a plan to humiliate the girl as revenge.[1] This act, which took place on October 1st, birthed what "A" viewed as their first true sin, and solidified them as targets.
During the Spirit Week Dance, on October 2nd, A took his second victim with the murder of Karen Beasley, which he framed to appear as a suicide. Karen, with the help of her twin Kelly, wanted to take revenge on Imogen, however, "A" got ahead of her and pushed Karen off the balcony, causing her death. The method of which Karen died mirrored Angela's death.[2]
Tyler's Murder[]
Another bully down. Tyler Marchand, the third victim.
On October 31st, during Imogen Adams' Halloween party, "A" attends and observes the teenagers in attendance. He sees Tyler Marchand acting out against the girls and Tabby's accusation of him being an assaulter, before punching him herself. Tyler finds the bathroom, examining his bloody nose in the mirror. “A” staring at him urinating. He tells him to wait his turn “homo”. Hearing Tyler call him retarded proves to be the last straw; “A” lunges at him. He pushes him to the corner of the small wall and bangs his head twice on it. Momentarily disoriented, “A” grabs Tyler by the throat with both hands and drags him next to the bathtub. His screams are muffled as Tyler dies by asphyxiation.[3]
"A" taunts the Little Liars by sending them an image of Tyler's corpse as proof of what he had done.[4]
Kidnappings and Luring the Liars[]
"A" kidnaps the Sinners.
On December 15th, "A" kidnaps their mothers and sends the girls a photo of their moms tied up. The girls head to Millwood High School, where they find notes instructing them to confront their bullies. Each girl faces a test involving a person who bullied them, but none carry out "A's" instructions. They receive a text from "A" commending their mercy and summoning them to the auditorium for the trial.

In the auditorium, the girls find their mothers tied to chairs. Principal Clanton and "A," revealed to be Archie, confront them. Clanton reveals he's Angela's father and blames the mothers for her death due to their past actions of bullying and erasing Angela from existence. The girls demand the truth, learning about the mothers' role in Angela's downfall. Imogen argues that her mother, Davie, changed and was a good person. Clanton, however, believes the sins of the mother must be punished through the daughters. Imogen's pregnancy stops Archie in his tracks, and Clanton offers her a head start. Imogen flees while the girls restrain Clanton with the help of Kelly Beasley and Greg Mantzoukas.
Imogen's Assault and Arrest[]
Archie chased Imogen from Millwood High to her childhood home where he viciously attacked her while she was in the early stages of labor. She defended herself and ultimately stabbed him several times in the neck, before they both collapsed. They were discovered by Imogen's friends who called 911. Both Archie and Imogen were taken to Millwood General where they received care for their injuries. Imogen also delivered her daughter.
Loose Ends[]
Loose Ends: Madame Giry, Steve Bowers, and a drug dealer.
Archie awakened in his hospital room on December 24, 2022, and was enraged by his arrest. He murdered the deputy guarding his room then murdered Sheriff Tom Beasley. He escaped from the hospital and went on to murder Chip Langsberry.[5]
The murders of Madame Giry in her apartment, Steve Bowers in his car, and the drug dealer who Archie stabbed to death in an alley, occurred during the one-week period in which Archie was on the loose. Steve Bowers was murdered on December 25, 2022, and was audibly witnessed by Mouse Honrada. These final victims were whom The Little Liars dubbed his "loose ends".[6]
Second Arrest and Trial[]
The Millwood sheriff department followed the hunches of Imogen, Noa, Faran, Tabby, and Mouse that Archie would feel compelled to visit his sisters grave on the anniversary of her death. Archie Waters was arrested on December 31, 2022, at approximately 12:01 AM. He was held in a maximum security detention center without bail. He remained in custody for the entirety of his trial and sentencing.[6]
Aftermath[]
Archie's reign of terror on the small town became known as the Millwood Massacre. The trial was watched closely by those who cared enough, and his verdict of the death penalty was newsworthy, as it would be the first death penalty carried out in Pennsylvania in over twenty years.
The survivors of Millwood Massacre
Archie Waters and the Waters family became people's new true crime obsession, with people flocking to SpookySpaghetti.com to write fanfiction, post drawings, short stories, and films they created dedicated to the serial killer and his family. The legend of how Archie made his mask ran wild online, ultimately birthing Millwood's newest serial killer, Bloody Rose Waters.[6] The survivors of Archie's massacre were kept from the public as they were minors, but that didn't stop the town from gossiping, with many students finding out that Imogen Adams, Tabby Haworthe, Noa Olivar, Mouse Honrada, and Faran Bryant were involved. They were dubbed "The Survivors" on Spookyspaghetti.[7]
The infamy of the Millwood Massacre sparked interest across the country, which led it to become a true crime feature film with director Ari Aster leading the helm. The cast included Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts as "the two teen girls at the heart of the horror." The film wanted to shoot in Millwood where the massacre occurred.[8]

- In Chapter Eleven: SpookySpaghetti.com, a reporter claims Archie was arrested for ten counts of murder. Archie actually had nine victims - Jason, Karen Beasley, Tyler Marchand, an unnamed deputy, Tom Beasley, Chip Langsberry, Madame Giry, a drug dealer, and Steve Bowers.
- While it's possible the writers are including Joseph England in Archie's kill count, the murder was never confirmed, nor was his death mentioned again after "Chapter Eight: Bad Blood". It was assumed by the Liars that Crazy Jo killed himself after attacking Imogen in the Waters's former house.
