Tippy

Tippi is an African Grey parrot that belonged to Mrs. DiLaurentis' late mother-in-law, but spent most of his time in with Alison when she visited. She first appears in "Turn of the Shoe." She mimics noises, words, repeats Alison's sayings, and sings a phone number.

She was stolen from Spencer's bedroom, presumably by A.

Season 4

Turn of the Shoe

Jessica calls Hanna over to her house for some gardening advice. Hanna hears a voice and Jessica introduces her to Tippi, the parrot. Tippi sounds just like Alison, because when she stayed with her grandmother in Georgia, the two shared a room. Jessica DiLaurentis is not very fond of the bird and offers it to Hanna.

Hanna takes Tippi over to Spencer's house. Tippi keeps repeating what Spencer, Aria and Hanna think is a song. Later, Spencer becomes annoyed with her constant singing and calls Hanna in the hope that she would take her back. While she dials Hanna's number, Spencer figures out it isn't a song that Tippi has been singing, but a phone number.

She deciphers the number and tried to call it with Hanna and Aria. They call a number of times, but no one answers. When they go back up to Spencer's room to double check they are dialing correctly, they discover Tippi had been stolen. At the end of the episode, "A" is seen trying to feed Tippi from a plate of roasted bird.

Bite Your Tongue.

Tippi appears at the end of this episode, whistling the phone number and saying, "Hey, Board Shorts." She appears to be with A.

Notes

  • Tippi used to belong to Alison's grandmother.;
  • Tippi and Alison shared a room with each other.
  • Tippi possibly knows more of Ali's secrets.
  • Other messages from Tippi were, "Hey, board shorts, miss me?," "hello," "pretty bird," "I can't keep coming back!," "want a sweet potato?," and "miss me?"
  • Her name is likely inspired by Tippi Hedren - the actress who portray character Melanie Daniels in Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" - which part of this season pays homage to.
  • Tippi and Alison were friends, since her mother, Jessica, said Alison talked more to the bird than her own grandmother.
