Emily laid in bed one afternoon. She had gotten sick that morning so she decided to stay home. She felt fine now though and she was bored out of her mind. She knew why she was sick; her suspicion was confirmed last night. It was another reason she didn't want to go to school. Her friends were still at school and her mom was at work. She tried watching the tv but gave up since there was nothing on. She knew who she could talk to though. She grabbed her phone and called him. He didn't answer. She hadn't told him.

She couldn't remember when she started having feelings for Jason. She wasn't even sure when he started having feelings for her. First they were just talking a lot--he was easy to talk to. Then they went out for dinner. Then they went out again. Eventually ther relationship was getting more intimate. She started staying over. She hasn't been over lately though. She hasn't even told anyone and as far as she knew, he hadn't either. She had to break up with Paige after the first night she was over. Of course she didn't take it well but she sees Paige in school--she's fine now.

Suddenly, Emily was getting tired. She set her phone down on the table beside her bed and layed down.

There was a loud vibrating noise when she woke up. She checked the clock. It was a little after five. She had been asleep for almost three hours. Weird she thought. Her head hurt. She wanted to go back to sleep but the noise wouldn't go away. It took her a minute to realize it was her phone. She looked; it was Jason.

Emily: "Hey" her voice croacked. She got out of bed and went down into the kitched to get water. She cradled the phone between her shoulder and ear and got a glass.

Jason: "Sorry I didn't answer earlier. I was helping Spencer with something and, you know."

Emily: "She didn't go to school today?" Emily took a big drink and refilled her glass.

Jason: "Yeah, she did. I was helping her family paint the barn. She came home for lunch and you called." There was a little pause. He must have known Emily wasn't going to answer so he continued talking. "I'm almost done here. Spencer's inside, don't worry. You can come over later." Another pause. "If you want to, I mean."

Emily knew she had to say something. She considered telling him now but she felt like if she said it at her house, her mom would somehow hear. She wasn't sure what to say to him. That was why she didn't want to come over. She refilled her glass, downed it all so fast her stomach was sloshing, and set the glass down. She took way too much time stalling.

Emily: "Tonight is fine. What time?" She had to take deep breaths through her nose. Her heart was racing. If she came over tonight, she knew she wouldn't be able to keep it to herself.

Jason: "Emily, are you okay? You don't have to come over, you know that, right?"

Emily: "Yeah, I'm fine and it's okay. I want to come over. What time?" she started chewing her nails and pacing around the kitchen. She wasn't worried about Jason; she was worried about what her friends--most importantly Spencer--would do. Her thoughts were brought back when she heard Jason sigh.

Jason: "Anytime after six, I guess. Do you want me to make dinner?"

Food sounded really good after he said dinner. She walked to the fridge and quietly opened it. She didn't want Jason to think she was eating dinner right now.

Emily: "That would be great." She pulled out leftover pizza and got out a plate. She set the pizza on the plate but didn't put it in the microwave yet. "See you then." She hung up then so he didn't have time to respond.

Suddenly, Emily was tired again. She wasn't sure if she should eat the pizza and then sleep or just go straight to bed. She decided on sleeping first. She set her alarm for 6:30. That way she could be there by 6:50. She figured an hour wouldn't be enough. She hardly slept the night before and she was so tired she could hardly look at the bright screen on her phone to set the alarm without closing her eyes. She was alseep by the time she was under the covers.

She woke with her alarm going off. She was tired, that was an understatement. She almost wanted to call it off. She couldn't though. Her mouth had a sour taste in at. She grabbed her keys, went down to get another glass, drank it, then left. Her mom still wasn't home yet. She was glad for that. She left her a not saying she would be at Spencer's.

Emily was still tired but it was wearing off. If she accidentally slept at his house tonight it would be fine since it's Friday. Her mom would assume she was at Spencer's. When she put the keys in the ignition, her stomach was growling again. She never ate. She hoped Jason made enough food for six people. She wasn't going to bet on it though.

When she passed Spencer's house, she noted her car was gone. It was habit to check now. When Spencer was home, Emily had to be extra careful, hiding her car and sneaking up to the front door. She would actually have to do that anyway just in case Spencer were to come home or anyone saw her car there. She was almost too lazy to hide it but decided to anyways.

She parked and walked slowly up the steps. She never knocks--she just walks right in but today she knocked. She wasn't sure why. She wasn't paying too much attention to what she was doing all day. Jason opened the door and the tears she didn't even know she was holding in were being brought up to the surface. They spilled down her cheeks. At first they were just gliding down but then she started sobbing. Jason stood there for only about two seconds until he pulled her inside, closed the door, and wrapped his arms around her while she cried into his chest.

They stayed like that for a while. Emily's sobs became softer but the tears were endless. Jason's shirt was getting soacked but he didn't seem to mind. His arms were wrapped around her and he kept kissing her head. Emily didn't want to stop crying nor did she feel embarrassed. She thought she could hold it together--she's been keeping it together all day. When she saw his face though, something--a wall inside of her--broke, came crashing down.

Slowly but surely, her sobbing was becoming more mute. When it was again completely still, she was able to think more clearly. She was still hungry, she knew that was for sure. She wasn't as tired though. After tonight though, she wasn't sure if she would be able to go back home. She heard her stomach growl and she pushed herself away from Jason. They stared at each other. The last of her tears fell down and Jason wiped it away.

Emily wasn't sure what to say to him. She was hoping he would speak first but he never did. He memory from yesterday came back and she felt another crying episode coming on. She buried her face into Jason's again but she wasn't crying.

This time, it was Jason's turn to push her away. He wiped another tear and tilted her chin up to look at him.

Jason: "Are you...do you..." He wasn't dure what to say. Of course she wasn't okay and if he would've known what was bothering her, he would probably be able to hep her. But he couldn't.

Emily: "I just...needed to let something out." Emily said, shaking her head. She took his hand and walked into the kitchen. It was only a little after seven so the crying jag didn't take as long as she thought it did. She saw hamburgers on a plate on the counter. She saw them. She saw he made enough for each of them to have two and they were already made the way she liked. They were still warm so she grabbed her plate, Jason grabbed his and sat down in the living room on the couch.

She took a bite out of the burger and her stomach praised her. It was loud too. Self consciously, she rubbed her hand on her stomach. Jason was studying her. He hadn't taken a bite and she was almost finished with the first one. She wanted to eat and then talk. She looked around the room--anywhere but Jason. The walls were still painted the same beige color that was there when she came over with Alison. The pictures were gone though--she assumed her mom took them.

She finished about the time he decided to start. This time, she was watching him. Neither said a word and Emily wanted to wait until he was done. He could tell this too so he hurried up. When he finished, he set his plate down and took her hand. She squeezed it. He waited for her to say something. Her breath was coming out fast and her heart was racing again. She hadn't even been thinking of how to tell him. He opened his mouth to say something but she shook her head.

Emily: "I just found out last night." She took another deep breath. A single tear fell down her cheek and she brushed it off. She knew she wasn't going to be able to tell him. He would have to figure it out. She again rested her free hand on her stomach. He watched her for about half a second but brought his eyes back up to hers. She wasn't sure how he was going to figure it out. She was just going to say it.

Emily: "I'm pregnant." She said the words fast to get it over with--like ripping off a band aid. She watched Jason. Shock was on his face. That was really the only expression she saw. He stared at her longer than she would've liked. More tears started falling down. He finally moved and pulled her into his chest. He stroked her hair. This went on even longer than the first time she cried did. She wanted to stay in his arms forever but they needed to talk. She tried to control herself and when she finally did, she puled away.

They stared at each other for a while. The shock was gone from his face.

Emily: "Um..." she trailed off. She wanted him to talk. He hadn't said a word to her since they were in the foyer of his house. The house was dead silent. It made her feel uncomfortable.

Jason: "I'm sorry, I just don't know what to say. Are you okay? Have you told anyone else? Do you..." He trailed off there and she knew what he was going to ask. She didn't even consider...stopping the pregnancy. She couldn't do that.

Emily: "I don't know if I'm okay and you're the only one I've told. I mean, my mom...and my friends...Spencer. I-I just don't..." She sighed. "I don't know." Her voice was barely audiable at the end. She avoided his last question, not because she was unsure of what she wanted but because she wasn't sure about what he wanted. A tear started forming but she wiped it away before it slid down.

Jason: "I'm here for you--no matter what you decide. I can be there when you tel your mom or Spencer. It will be okay. You're almost done with school. You'll be fine. I promise."

They talked a while longer. At first it was about the baby but then it started getting casual and Emily relaxed. She could deal with everyone else later. She spent the night over but they didn't do anything but talk. Emily felt safe.

* One week later

It was the next Friday night and Emily was telling her friends. She went to school that whole week and it became less of a burden. She didn't know why though. She tried not to act weird and none of them ever noticed but they were all staying at Spencer's house that night. She told jason she didn't want him there and he agreed.

They were waching a movie in Spencer's room. Emily and Spencer were on the floor by the foot of the bed, Hanna was sitting on Spencer's red couch, and Aria was on her bed. Emily didn't know when the right time to tell them--she just knew it had to be tonight. They had a stack of movies and two bowls of popcorn. It was a pretty lazy Friday night compared to what they usually did. The third movie was ending and Emily knew she was missing her chance.

Spencer got up beside her and took out the DVD to put a new one in. Hanna left to get more popcorn. Emily had a pillow clung to her torso the whole time, afraid they would see even thought there wasn't a bump yet. This was her chance.

Emily: "I don't want to watch movies anymore. Can't we just talk?"

Aria: "I'm with Emily on this. I'm getting tired and that movie almost put me to sleep."

Spencer: "That's fine." She pulled the DVD out and Aria got off the bed. Emily was leaning against the bed, Spencer's back was toward the doorway, Aria was siting across from Spencer and when Hanna came back, she sat across from Emily. They put both the bowls of popcorn in the middle and started talking. Emily was never in the conversation. She was just feeding herself handfuls of popcorn the whole time.

Spencer: "Em, are you okay?" Spencer pulled her out of her daze. She knew this was going to sound weird but she wanted them to concern about her so she acted like she wanted them to talk more and she just pout.

Emily: "No." She kept her head down.

Aria: "What's wrong?"

Emily: "Ask me what's right if you want a shorter answer." *HAD TO :D*

Hanna: "Em, you know you can tell us anything."

Emily: "No, I can't. Not Spencer." She looked up at Spencer. She was staring at her with confusion. "Okay, here it is...me and Jason have been...seeing each other.

She looked at Aria. She remembered that they had a thing too and felt even worse. Aria was looking a her with wide eyes *o_O lol*. She looked at Hanna. Her face was more bearable than Aria. Hanna looked at her with understanding. There wasn't judgement on her face and it almost hinted a small smile. She looked back at Aria. her face had calmed down a little bit but there was still something in there that Emily didn't want to look at. She looked back at Hanna and bit her lip. She couldn't look at Spencer. But she did.

Spencer's face was not at all what she expected. It showed no emotion. No anger, judgement, or happiness--not that she expect it. She wanted to look away from Spencer but she couldn't. Spencer was the first one to talk.

Spencer: "I know." Emily was grateful her voice showed emotion. It was a quiet voice but it didn't have anger. She stretched her arms out behind her and spread her legs out in front of her. "I see you go to his house, you know. Actually, Melissa saw first." Spencer smiled. Emily's cheeks went hot when Melissa's name was mentioned. She couldn't stand to see Spencer's smile. Spencer didn't know all of it.

Emily: "No, Spencer. There's...more." She looked at Spencer. Her smile went away but she hadn't put the pieces together yet. She looked at Aria. Confusion replaced her expression. She looked at Hanna. Her eyes were wide and mouth parted slightly. Hanna knew.

Hanna: "Emily..." she trailed off. Emily bit her lip harder to control the tears. Spencer and Aria still didn't get it. Emily shakes her head.

Emily: "Just tell them, Hanna." As long as somebody knew she wouldn't have to say it out loud. She tasted blood so no amount of biting could control the tear that slid down.

Hanna: "No, I can't say it." She looked at the other two. "How do you not get this? Emily is in tears, she just admitted to being with Jason. You've seen her spend the night over, Spencer." It clicked in Spencer's mind then.

Spencer's expression was pretty similar to Hanna's. Hanna though found her voice. Spencer was just speechless. She was trying to say something but it came out in squeaks. Somewhere in the middle of Spencer trying to talk, she saw Aria got it too. Aria took her hand and squeezed it.

Aria: "Who have you told?"

Emily: "Jason. That's it." She took a deep breath. "I'm not telling my mom. We get out in a month and I'll be able to hide it from her until then. I'll move out in the summer and just..." Emily hadn't worked out the kinks in her plan but it was the best she got. She didn't want to go off to college with her mom being betrayed.

So that's what she did.
