Y2K, also called the Death of Angela Waters, was an event held on December 31st, 1999. What began as the ultimate rave to be remembered turned infamous after Angela Waters jumped to her death in front of all the attendees.
Overview[]
The rave was planned and coordinated by an unknown group of Millwood High School students for a select group of the most popular upperclassmen, to celebrate New Year's Eve and the turn of the new millennium. At the time the flyers were printed and handed out, the location was yet to be determined but students in the know would know where to go. Eventually, the final location was an abandoned old harbor warehouse with a dress code similar to that of a dance.
The rave began to reach its peak as midnight approached, when Angela Waters stumbled inside, calling out in despair for Sidney Haworthe or Davie Adams. Tear-stricken, she begged for help to no one’s bother. She found Sidney and dropped to her knees in the middle of the crowd. Through her sobs, she begged Sidney to look at her. Davie, however, angrily muttered to Sidney that they’ve talked about this already, forcing a conflicted Sidney to join her other friends. Devastated, Angela looked around in pain and noticed a ladder nearby. She decided to climb. The rave continued in full swing, and as the countdown began partygoers suddenly took notice of a silhouette up above. The DJ cut the music, allowing Angela to scream out to the girls below if they finally see her. Davie yelled at her to stop, but Angela raised her arms and stepped forward.
The crowds dispersed with screams of terror, though only the five girls stood still. They forced themselves to look upon the bloody, gruesome scene before them; Angela’s broken, dead body.
Aftermath[]
The girls eventually found refuge at Pinball Pizza. Sidney bemoaned how Angela was in trouble and they ignored her. Davie assured her it wasn’t her fault - Angela was a messed up girl. Elodie was shocked that everyone left quickly, though Corey snapped at what else they were supposed to do. Marjorie asked if they should call an ambulance, but Davie reiterated it is not their fault and someone will find Angela. Sidney questioned what should happens now.
Angela's body was later found two days afterwards, as a consequence of the bystander effect. The coroners easily dismissed her death as a lone suicide, and authorities failed to uncover the reason why she was in the warehouse due to a lack of willpower and interest. As Sidney would later recount, "The less said back then, the better."
In retaliation against the ulterior motives as to why Angela jumped, an avenger known simply as "A" would come execute a decades-long scheme against the five young women responsible for pushing Angela off the edge figuratively, by going after their daughters whom he sees as a legacy of the sins their mothers committed twenty-two years ago.
