Zakiya Young is an American actress and singer. She plays Corey Bryant in the Max original series, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. The series is a spin-off of the hit Freeform series, Pretty Little Liars.
History[]
Zakiya recently moved to Los Angeles and hit the ground running by recently making her Los Angeles theater debut starring in the hit comedy "Spamilton" with Center Theatre Group, now playing at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. She also booked her first hosting job - conducting red carpet interviews at the Pasadena International Film Festival.
She can be currently seen as Nurse Smith in episodes 1 and 2 of Netflix's new series "Iron Fist" and has a role in the film "Sidney Hall".
Prior to her west coast relocation, Zakiya completed a tri-city tour starring as Jory in Ayad Akhtar's Pulitzer Prize winning play "Disgraced".
Other favorite roles include Atina in "The Little Mermaid" (OBC), Kate in "Good People", Lois Lane in "It's a Bird, It's a Plane…It's Superman" (first black actress known to have played the iconic role in any Superman project), Aida in "Aida", Betty Haynes in "White Christmas", Sally in "The Lightning Thief", Sam in "The War Department", Nita in "Tenderloin" and Tigre Savoy in "Storyville" (Audelco Award Nom. best musical performance - female).
Zakiya is also known for her work on "Orange is the New Black", "Disney Royals", "Submissions Only", "Made in Jersey" and "This American Life at BAM". Her voice has been featured in various television commercials and audiobooks.[1]
